September 8, 2008 Successful Breastfeeding
WHERE: Providence Health Education Center
TIME: 6:30 PM

This prenatal breastfeeding class will help you prepare before and after delivery. Breastfeeding difficulties are related to latch and positioning; therefore, over half of the class is devoted to the basics. Heavy emphasis is placed on how to know feedings are going well, and if not, how to get help. In addition, common hospital routines and newborn behaviors are discussed. We will also check out at a variety of different pumps and what they are best used for. Dads are encouraged to attend as well, since they are a great source of support for mom.

This group is open to individuals with heart problems and their families. The Providence chapter meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in classroom 3 of the Providence Health Education Center, located on the hospital campus downtown at 2701 Laurel Street.

Topics include: bathing, skin care, infant stimulation and brain development, cord care and choosing a child care provider. Class size is limited and there is a fee.
