STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES | College Students

Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals offer numerous programs for the college student studying for a career in health care.

Students can choose to participate in our shadowing program which allows students to explore many different health care careers. Providence also has several internship positions available for college students.

Nurse Track: A Nursing Residency Program.
Nursing offers a wide selection of specialty practice areas. To make sure you're on the right track, Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals would like you to consider Nurse Track, an exceptional paid residency program designed to offer you a sample of "real world" nursing as you determine your professional practice interest.

Nurse Track is a 12-week program during which you'll be paired with skilled registered nurse preceptors in a variety of practice settings at Providence. You'll have the opportunity to practice nursing skills in a safe, supervised environment.

Who Can Apply for Nurse Track?

  • Nursing students that have completed fundamentals by the beginning of the program.

Requirements for Application:

  • Provide official transcripts from your current nursing program;
  • Provide at least two letters of recommendations from your nursing instructors;
  • Complete a panel interview comprised of the Nurse Track Coordinator, Human Resources and Nurse Managers;
  • Submit an online application to Providence by following the “Apply for a Job” link on the left side of this Web page, and specify "Nurse Track" as the position for which you are applying;
  • Apply between December 1 and January 30.

Student Clinical Apprenticeship: SCA
The Student Clinical Apprenticeship Program is a six week paid training course designed to introduce pre-nursing students to bedside patient care. SCA's learn basic nursing skills through a combination of classroom instruction, case scenarios in a skills lab setting and through interaction with patients while under the direction of an instructor. Upon successful completion of the six week training course, the SCA will have an opportunity to continue working as a Patient Care Assistant.

Who can apply for Student Clinical Apprenticeship?

  • Pre-fundamental nursing students that have been officially accepted to a nursing program and will be entering fundamentals either in the fall or the spring following the summer training session.

Requirements for Application:

  • Verification of acceptance to a nursing program;
  • Two letters of recommendation;
  • Complete panel interview.
  • Submit an online application to Providence by following the “Apply for a Job” link on the left side of this Web page, and specify “Student Clinical Apprenticeship” as the position for which you are applying;
  • Apply between January 1 and February 27.
